My Experience With My Hospital Internship - 937 Words

My hospital internship has significantly affected my growth as a person because it opened my eyes to what the medical field truly is. When I started my internship at Staten Island University Hospital I was sixteen years old. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do I life. I knew that I wanted to be someone who could help others. The first day of my internship I was really scarred I didn’t know what tasks I would be assigned but that didn’t stop me from being excited. When I arrived at the hospital I was dressed in my black pants and royal blue scrub jacket that made me feel so important. I have to honestly say I was a little upset that we could not wear scrubs because I always loved wearing scrubs. I was standing in the lobby of Staten Island University Hospital South Site when the one thing I could never forget happened I remember just seeing doctors walking all over the place from one end to another. The Lady in charge of all the students in the internship tol d me that I needed to clock in so that’s what I did first. Then I went to go find my way to get to my assignment, I got lost trying to get downstairs, I ended up walking past the OR suite where many patients were either going into surgery or getting out of surgery.
